Lazarus Arise Within
By Tanya Merced
It was a miracle that day when Jesus called my name.
He remembered me and delivered me from the pit.
I was lost, forgotten, and ashamed and needed someone to blame
for my unhappiness.
Dead you see, but he awoke the Lazarus within me.
The same fingers that knitted me once before were now opening
the entrance to the grave door.
Layer upon layer he tore upon my wounded soul. He labored
and labored all night long.
I heard my Savior weeping and shouting “How much more?”
He gently touched me and whispered my name.
Arise! Lazarus, Arise!
Take off your grave clothes and let them go.
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.” Rev. 21:5
