About Me

God has given me a passion for many things, including relationships, writing, teaching, the poor, and missions.  I am fortunate enough to live these passions out in my position as a wife, and mother to a son who has been diagnosed with Aspergers' Syndrome since the age of 2 and as a staff member of WOWgroup Global Network.

In each of these roles I have learned how to help and prepare people to grow and love themselves. As an ordained Minister of WOWgroup Fellowship NY I have learned how to use my personal experiences to bring others closer to Christ.

I was born and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY.  I am the oldest of two other siblings. I graduated from John Dewey High School and then landed my very first job at National Westminister Bank.  In 1988 I married my husband William and soon after the Lord added Andrew to the family. At the time I was working as a part-time clerk at a hospital and going to Brooklyn College full-time.

A few years after I graduated from Brooklyn College and obtained my B.A. in Special Education.  As a young wife and mother I struggled to keep things balanced.  My son had been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and I had my first mental breakdown. However, a love for the Word of God was embedded in my life when I began attending church with my family in 1995.

In 1996, my husband and I became part of the prayer team at our local church.  We both continue today to be a part of a wonderful team at WOWgroup Global Network where we both serve as Ministers.  Although we were struggling at home to keep it together we knew that God was the glue that was holding us up.

I began teaching special education middle school children as soon as I graduated from Brooklyn College.  Soon after I obtained my Masters in Special Education and decided  that a Masters in Education and Computer Science was needed if I was going to be effective in the classrooms.  I completed my second masters' in 2002.  I have to tell you that I would not have been able to accomplish many of the things that I have so far if it were not for the support of my husband, family and the word of God.

As a staff member of WOWgroup Global Network I have been given the opportunity to conduct workshops and conferences.  Dr. Sandrie S. Smith co-founder of WOWgroup Global Network has given me the opportuntiy to do mission trips alongside her.  I  have had the opportunity to go and share the gospel in Monterrey, MX, Tecate, MX,  Cairo, Egypt, and in the USA San Diego, Los Angeles.  As a mother, wife, and teacher living with bipolar disorder and Aspergers Syndrome I have been able to  teach small groups regarding mental illness and the need for Christian holistic community development.  Additionally, as a person living with bipolar I can empathize, identify and serve others with various disabilities.

A Hidden Passion

My writing career began as a teenager when I enjoyed crafting inspirational poetry and adventure stories for teachers and myself. I wrote little in the realm of fiction during my college years as I concentrated on obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.

In 1995 when my son was 2 years old he was diagnosed with Autism.  That year was very difficult for me, but by the grace of God I was able to complete my degree and began teaching in 1998.

The door for me to write professionally opened in 2000 when I wrote a poem called “Breaking the Chains”, which was created for my uncle who was dying of HIV AIDS Virus.  There lying on a hospital bed lay a man with no hope. I didn’t know what to tell him, but knew that if I poured out my heart on paper I could communicate to him what I wanted to say. That day I saw a smile on a hopeless man and knew that there was power in my words.

Since then I have written over 100 Inspirational poems and I have published two books  “A Touch of Peace” and “ They Call Me Faith”.
